Anyone up for an October Haiku Challenge?  I had so much fun with the September Photo Challenge that I want to carry on into October, but on a much smaller scale.  I'm thinking just four photos with accompanying haiku.  I wrote several this past spring and enjoyed the process a lot.  It's so simple and so rewarding.

here are the ones i wrote earlier this year:  http://dorissander.b...rch/label/haiku

here is a nice article about writng haiku:  http://www.wikihow.c...te-a-Haiku-Poem

and here is one of my project life spreads where i incorporated them:  http://dorissander.b...e-aquarium.html

So, what do you think?  Anyone care to join me?  Just a photo and 17 syllables once a week(ish) . . . it's the perfect fall challenge!  Let's play!  :)

I don't have time to play this month, but I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the haiku you wrote earlier in the year. Beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration!! I am going to try it a bit when things calm down here.

Sure. Maybe I can get my son in on it. I think the Haiku might be nice as journaling for the photo in a PL pocket.

I don't think I would have time to play along either Doris, but I just had to stop in and say we actually did this for one of our Homeschool assignments today!  :)  We've been reading about Japan over the past several days and one of the suggested extra assignments was writing and illustrating a Haiku.  Our oldest is 7, and she really liked it, once she figured out the lines and syllables.  Here's what we came up with for hers:

Hop, hop all around

The bunny wants to find food-

He likes to eat grass.

She was a little overwhelmed with the ideas part and coming up with words to incorporate, so I just told her to keep it simple and try to tell a story that could form a picture.

And the ones you wrote are really great and I love the beautiful photos to go along with them!

super awesome one michelle!  i love it!

i was thinking about this today.  october has been such a limbo month for me.  the flowers have still been blooming, but are past their prime so i haven't felt like photographing them.  and the leaves hadn't hardly started changing yet.  and now it suddenly feels like winter.  gah!  maybe i will write a mean haiku about the excessive frost on my car window.  yep.  that sounds like a plan.  it's not all sunshine and roses in winter, that's for sure!  ha!

I like that idea Doris!  It is cold here too but we have the colors!  Glorious this year, we'll see if they all just fall off this weekend with the freezing overnight they could.  I did get one more great fall photo though so I will post that one today or early next week.

i didn't get any fall pics at the campout/pumpkin patch this wknd.  i could blame it on the fact that i forgot the flash card for my dslr or on the fact that my car will only charge my phone while it's running which is awkward on a campout, but really it's because it was too cold for me and i didn't want to leave the campfire!  but it's warming back up this wk, so maybe i will get a few cute fall shots in the last few days of october.  i notice my neighbor's tree is now a glorious shade of red.  maybe i'll go steal a leaf and have g take a pic with it for me.  :)

Doris it would be cool if you could overlap your journaling challenge with this one.  "Cool" is not the right word I tried several but none worked, I am so impressed with your words and observations.  Very inspiring!
