So I really did finish this up but I have been wanting to do the last month justice, which of course I do not have time to do this morning. But I will be back to finish up my year of Happiness Project and tell you my goals to continue in the pursuit of happiness! I did things a little differently than Gretchen for my last month she tried to do one perfect month or even one perfect day, achieving all of her goals at once. You can imagine that is basically impossible to do but it did give her a lot of insights to her own happiness. So if you have been following at all you can stay tuned and I will do one big sum up here in the next week. Happy day all!

Well I seem to be procrastinating this horribly! Life has been busy as it is for all of us and I have been chasing my tail a lot lately. But I still want to finalize what I started so here is at least a start at it.
In Gretchen's final month she decides to try for a perfect month. Hmmm... even for her this does not go so well. Even with all her graphs and check marks she gives herself she falls short, in fact she does not even accomplish one perfect day. I could have told her this before she attempted (and i am sure she knew herself) but it was more about the attempt. For the month of January, instead of trying to do it all at once I have been looking back at what relly worked for me and what really made a difference in my "happiness" factor.
Here are the winners
*Continue to purge and clean
*Keep putting the laundry away(no sitting more than 1 night)
*Get the chores that never get done done
*Really see John
*Don't push for praise
*Keep writing and submitting work
*Take time for play(with the kiddos)
*switch of to dos and play
*devotion time
*staying in the moment
*listening better
Did I do perfect with them? NO Have I lost track of a few? YES the laundry sat for three days folded in the basket waiting to be put away, I have wanted strokes for accomplishments... you get the idea. But they were all areas when I was successful with them made a difference how I felt just day to day, they did and do make me happier when I accomplish them. So as I am rolling into the new year (ha ha we are already well into it I know) I am going to attempt to keep these things at the front burner. And the key right now for me is the listening, I really want to change that in me, to practice being a better listener with ALL the people I deal with. Kids, adults, friends, family, students, everybody.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Happiness Project. I am glad I posted here about it, even without an actual group meeting I was holding myself accountable. And it was just enough. I did not overwhelm myself. Several months I focused on only one goal. I only reported here so it was short and sweet. I might print my entries at some point to try to preserve them in an art journal etc... But I might not. It was more about the journey and the exploration. If any of you are reading Gretchen's book. Enjoy it! Make it your own project, do it your way. And if any of you are tempted, Do It it is worth any time or effort you put towards it.
Thanks everybody who followed along!
