Depending on what platform you decide to go with (i.e. typepad, blogger, wordpress, tumblr...there are several etc.) You can usually find quite a bit of help within the platform itself or by searching platform specific tutorials. But first I would research the platforms nd decided what you want out of your blog! If I could add my two cents...my blog is through Blogger which I find to be very user friendly, but not as customizable as say typepad and Wordpress..it is also free and is adding quite a few new features which are bringing it up to speed as far as customization goes....I have worked a little with worpress...with which you can't beat the customization...with tons of plugins and themes, etc. but I find it a bit overwhelming at times! Typepad I've never used as it does cost...though it is a minimal cost for having you own domain (which means the blog belongs to you, and therefore so does its traffic). Now you can purchase your own domain through most of the platforms by upgrading...and once you do get a blog set up Tami has quite a few tutorials on adding things to your blog, etc. right here in the Get Blogging forum.

Well I don;t want to overwhelm you but I think I may have already done that! You can certainly PM me or keep going with this thread if you have anymore specific questions that I might be able to answer I'd be more than happy to help...

I have my blog with Wordpress and I found it pretty overwhelming at first since I was a complete novice at blogging. Even now, I'm thinking of switching to Blogger which I understand is much easier to use.

How do you get music and photos etc on the site?

I am going to wait until after AJ 102 and Your life but I am planning now. :glassesbig:

Tami has some info here about adding music and other widgets and some info here about adding linked photos to your blog, Infact you should check out all of the Techie Tuesday Posts in this forum...I think you will find them all useful...I know I did! And then she found this really great site http://www.shabbyblogs.com for FREE backgrounds and banners! And then if you go with blogger, Paula stumbled upon this site http://bloggerindraft.blogspot.com with offers some great help on all of the ins and out of customizing your blog! Hope this will help when you're ready to take the plunge...be sure to let us all know where we can find you!

Robbie, I am really REALLY bad at doing anything like this (just ask my kid, lol) That being said - I went to Google and used their blog site - it did a walk thru telling me how to set it up. LOVE IT! (I'd love it more if I took more time to actually add things to it) But if you are looking for a "walk thru" - like "pick the basic layout you want of these" , step 2, add your photo by clicking here - etc. Google's blog is the way to go.

Sharon also uses Blogger....which is run by Google...so I it looks like your decision to start out with Blogger is a good one Robbie:)
